WHO WE ARE

OUR PURPOSE

The Sanctuary has the same mission Jesus gave his first followers, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."  (Matthew 28:19) The Sanctuary is a community of authentic believers joining together to witness a city transformed by the life changing reality of the gospel.  Our primary focus is to see  people come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

Core Beliefs

The Sanctuary Church believes the whole Bible to be completely and equally inspired and that it is the written Word of God. As a local body of The Church of God, we have adopted the following as our standard and official expression of doctrine.

God

There is one eternally existing God who has three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise.  God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom,  justice, and mercy. He is unchangeable and therefore is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Ghost, and born of the Virgin Mary.  Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead.  He ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor.

Mankind

Humans, both male and female, were created in God's image for His glory. The first humans, Adam and Eve, were created without sin and appointed as caretakers of the rest of God's creations.

Beginning with Adam and Eve, all of mankind has sinned and come short of the glory of God.  Repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for forgiveness of sins.

Baptism in the Holy Ghost

Salvation and the Christian Life

We believe in the baptism with the Holy Ghost subsequent to a clean heart.  This experience is marked with speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance and is the initial evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God.  He lived a life without sin and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions.  God raised him from the dead and now, by grace, offers as a free gift eternal life to all who follow Christ, by faith, as their Lord and Savior.  That is why salvation can be found in Christ alone.

Justification, regeneration, and new birth are a result of  faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.  Sanctification is subsequent to the new birth (salvation experience), through faith in the blood of Christ; through the Word, and by the Holy Ghost.  Holiness is God’s standard of living for His people.

The Church

End Times and Eternity

The Church is meant to be the visible body of Christ, sent into the world to glorify God and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.  As a community of believers, we practice water baptism by immersion, and believe that all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

We share in the Lord's Supper as an act of remembrance of Christ's sacrifice for us .

We believe that divine healing is provided for all in the atonement and practice the laying on of hands for the sick and afflicted.

Jesus Christ is returning one day to judge both the living and the dead and to usher in the fullness of God's kingdom on earth.  Jesus will return first to resurrect the righteous dead and to catch away the living saints to Him in the air.  Second, He will return to reign on the earth a thousand years.

We believe in the bodily resurrection; eternal life for the righteous, and eternal punishment for the wicked.
